Japan Business Japan is the second largest market in the world, with high disposable income spread among its population of 127.5 million consumers. Japanese consumers are moving toward a lifestyle more enriching for the individual and away from a mass-consumption lifestyle. Notably, the Japanese are often willing to spend more for higher quality products and services.
The wall that separated domestic and foreign markets is being taken down at a very fast pace, as protective regulations are repealed one by one. Distinguishing foreign investors with securable business resources find an abundance of opportunities across a breadth of industries in Japan, yet certainly in high-tech industries. In Japan, the plan is that by importing ideas, technologies, workers, and management methods from global corporations and foreign entrepreneurs, investment opportunities will continue to multiply.

Japanese Seal
Rather than a signature, in Japan a person uses a “personal seal” impression (stamp) which may be registered with a certificate – called a
jitsu-in. The personal seal is required for the representative director at registration of incorporation. A corporation is issued a representative seal as well, which must be registered. This corporate seal is needed, for example, to open a Japanese bank account.
